“KARACHI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has initiated a temporary suspension on meat imports from Pakistan due to the detection of fungus on meat shipments.
The ban, affecting frozen meat imports via sea routes, was implemented following the identification of fungus on a meat consignment that had been imported from Karachi to the UAE. This embargo is scheduled to remain in place until October 10.
It is important to note that Pakistan, a substantial meat exporter, typically ships frozen meat worth $12 million monthly to the UAE through maritime channels.
Pakistan predominantly exports its meat to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain.”
