US Senator Chris Van Hollen stated on Sunday that the Biden administration has no intention of interfering in Pakistan’s internal politics and firmly refuted any allegations of political manipulation.
Speaking to Pakistani journalists during the annual meeting and gala dinner of the DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) chapter of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America, Senator Van Hollen assured, “I have been in contact with the Biden administration for a long time and can confidently say that there was no attempt made to meddle in any matters related to Pakistani politics.”
US President Joe Biden’s big decision
This statement comes at a time when Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is under investigation concerning a diplomatic communication that he claimed contained evidence of alleged US involvement in his removal from power through a no-confidence vote in April of the previous year.
Senator Van Hollen was the guest of honor at the event, which was also attended by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Masood Khan. During the gathering, the American politician used the platform to address crucial issues regarding US-Pakistan relations and the role of the Biden administration in Pakistani politics.
He emphasized that it is the prerogative of the Pakistani people to choose their leaders and stressed the importance of ensuring that the will of the Pakistani citizens is both heard and respected, advocating for free and fair elections.
